“I've been doing shoulder arthroscopy
since 1988 and have used a variety of arm positioners, traction
arrangements and "balanced suspension". None of
the previous systems have the versatility, ease of repositioning,
and complete sterility that is offered by the SPIDER
Limb Positioner. I use both the beach chair and the
lateral decubitus position depending on the procedure and
I have found the spider to be very helpful for both positions,
either arthroscopic or open. Interestingly when doing arthroscopic
LHB tenodesis you can actually flex the elbow while still
maintaining some traction on the shoulder if desired. No other
system allows this feature. It is easy to reposition during
different parts of the procedure or even to detach the SPIDER
to allow inspection through ROM. I have found the SPIDER
Limb Positioner to be very helpful in almost all
aspects of shoulder surgery”.
